The Deckvanta Origin
Born in the historic streets of York, Deckvanta is not merely a brand, but a preservation society dedicated to the dying arts of copper-plate engraving and botanical illustration.
We saw the playing card industry shift towards cheap, disposable plastics and mass-market digital printing. The tactility, the weight, and the historical gravitas of a finely crafted deck were being lost. We founded Deckvanta to resurrect these methods, combining museum-grade vellum, genuine metal foils, and crushed linen stocks to create artifacts that demand to be held and admired.

Our Alchemy in Print
Our production line is a marriage of Victorian heavy machinery and modern precision engineering. We utilize authentic 1950s Heidelberg letterpress machines to punch our metallic inks deep into the paper fibers, creating a debossed texture you can trace with your fingertips.
We exclusively source crushed linen stocks that provide unparalleled handling for cardistry, ensuring that while our decks look like antiques, they handle with the fluid snap required by modern illusionists.
Sustainable Botany
Our inspiration is drawn entirely from esoteric botany and dangerous flora—from hemlock and belladonna to the mythological mandragora root. In honor of the natural world that fuels our art, we are deeply committed to sustainable printing practices.
Every deck is printed on FSC-certified paper, sourced from sustainably managed forests in Europe. For every Vault set acquired, we plant three trees in regions devastated by industrial logging. Our inks are soy-based, and our archival varnishes are entirely free of harmful microplastics.
